FIR NEEDLE OIL

Natural fir needle oil is a raw material for pharmaceutical and perfume and cosmetic industries. Main source of fir needle oil is Siberian Fir (Abies Sibirica), as the most wide-spread kind of the fir available in Russia. This kind of the fir has the most content percentage of bornyl acetate in oil.

PRODUCTION PROCESS OF FIR NEEDLE OIL INCLUDES FOLLOWING TECHNOLOGICAL STAGES:

1. COLLECTION OF FIR NEEDLES

The collection of fir needles is carried out in forests located in ecologically clean regions of West Siberia. Fir needle is picked up along with branches, which diameter shall not exceed 8 mm. The collection process is carried out from the end of April until November. The yield and quality of fir oil depends on plenty of factors, including the season. It is not advisable to collect fir needles during heavy frosts, because it sloughs and its bornyl acetate content decreases.

2. STEAM DISTILLATION

Fir oil production is made by means of steam distillation method on mobile and stationary fir oil distillation machines Х80. Intensive oil separation begins in 30-50 minutes after the start of the process and takes 15-17 hours. After discharge of essential oil from florentine, it settles within not less than 72 hours.

3. CONCENTRATION

To achieve the quality level required by the Customer the bornyl acetate content increase is carried out by means of vacuum distillation of turpentine (easy-boiling components of fir needle oil).

4. FILTRATION

Membrane and depth filters made of various filtrating materials are used for filtration of fir needle oil. The mandatory and necessary condition is inertness and neutrality of filtration materials. Filtration rating (nominal thinness):
I. Pre-filtration from 40,0 mcm up to 5,0 mcm
II. Finished filtration from 1,0 mcm up to 2,0 mcm.

5. DETERMINATION OF PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

Determination of physical and chemical properties of fir needle oil is carried out by means of method pf gas and fluid chromatography.

6. STORAGE AND TRANSPORTATION

Fir needle oil is kept at a warehouse in barrels made of food-grade alloy А5М (GOST21631). The shelf life of the oil ensuring the safety of application properties is 2 years. Transportation of fir needle oil is effected in 200 Liter steel barrels with internal cover of RDL50, in accordance with UNO recommendations for transportation and storage of hazardous cargoes, which are also applied to fir needle oil.

Fir needle oil is supplied both for Russian and foreign markets. During recent years firm partnership relations were established with companies from Germany, France, Spain, Japan, Korea. Lazurin is ready to provide its customers with products complying with Russian Quality Standards and European Quality Regulations.

OIL EXTRACTS

Oil extracts – are extractions from medical plants, prepared with use of various vegetable oils. In present time the usage of OE in medical practice and cosmetology has increased more and more. One of the basic reasons is that the risk of side effect by usage of chemical drugs is very high and most researchers and developers of new cosmetic products get back to traditional natural drugs.

To gain oil extracts the most effective of known methods is used – a Percolation method. The advantages of this method are in faster process, unlike to Maceration and achievement of maximal yield of biological active substances (BAS). The resulted OEs are oily colored fluids with odor and taste peculiar to their original raw materials. Non-significant sediments are admissible in some extracts, which dissolve by heating.

After the OE is received, they are tested to determine their BAS content peculiar to their original raw materials.
